CHARLESTOWN, Ind. – An all-new drone show along with nine music acts highlight a jam-packed two-day Community Days festival in Charlestown on Sept. 20-21.
The Charlestown City Square (Jennings Plaza) will be filled with vendors while the smells of festival foods and sounds of various musical genres bring entertainment to the stage.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, a custom drone show will be displayed in the Charlestown skies at 9 p.m. The near 15-minute illumination will be visible from the event venue.
“We can’t wait to welcome the innovative technology of a drone show to Charlestown,” said Mayor Treva Hodges. “The show will feature displays that speak to what our community is all about. We’re eager to see it in person and share with our visitors.”
The music line-up features two days of rock, country, and blues sounds. Nine acts are set to perform, including Friday, Sept. 20 headliner Black Water Revival, a tribute band to The Doobie Brothers at 9 p.m. Other Friday acts include Sleeping Dogs Lie (6 p.m.) and Willis Tucker Band (7:30).
Saturday, Sept. 21 features music from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., kicking off with an acoustic showcase of up-and-coming performers. Parts Unknown is running it back after a rockin’ return to the same stage last year. They will headline at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Additional Saturday performers include Aubrey Tucker (11:30 a.m.), Paul Boggs Band (12:30), Pawnshop Guitar (2:30), Dangerous Ally (4:30), and The Skinny (6:30).
Community Days, presented by NB Develop, also showcases vendors ranging from craft makers, artists, civic groups, and more will be set up on the streets. Some of the best food trucks in the area will be on hand too. There will be various activities for kids and families, including bounce houses on Saturday.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our community and visitors to Charlestown to embrace the art of music and our visitor local vendors,” said Hodges.
Also on Sept. 21, a baking competition takes place with two divisions – kids (12-under) and teens/adults (13-over) – who will be judged by the public. The judging starts at noon at the City Square Gazebo. Youths (ages 4-8) will have an opportunity on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. to participate in a Pedal Tractor Pull. The day also features an adult cornhole tournament, taking place at the VFW Post 1427 at 1 p.m.
The family-friendly event is free. Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available to help visitors to the venue.
