Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center
The Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center, located at 999 Water St., serves as home to several groups and is also available for rent to use for parties, fundraisers, anniversary celebrations, etc. There are two main parts of the facility:
- An area one might think of as a Fellowship Hall that includes a kitchen, ample room for seating, and a small stage
- A large room with vaulted ceiling and a large stage, better suited for larger, more formal events
The larger space, called the Donna Coomer Room, is where Rosehouse Island Playhouse presents its theatrical productions. It has been performing several plays per year there since 2005. You may learn more about Rose Island Playhouse by clicking on the link above or by visiting them on Facebook.
Charlestown Senior Citizens, Inc. meets in the smaller venue every Tuesday. They enjoy breakfast together, play games, work on crafts, etc. There is even a musical group, The Senior Moments, that plays Tuesday evenings. Lifetime membership in the group is $10.
The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce holds its quarterly meetings in the Fellowship area on the third Thursday of March, June, and September and on the 2nd Thursday of December. They usually have a meal for Chamber members beginning at 12 noon, followed by an informative program that is open to the public at around 12:30 p.m. Visit the Chamber on Facebook.
The Charlestown Lions Club hold semi-annual Pancake Breakfasts in the Fellowship area in the Spring and Fall. The breakfasts are most often on the first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in November, though that may vary slightly based on the date of the primary and general elections. The pancake breakfasts serve as a fundraiser for the Lions, but also as a chance for candidates in the elections to meet voters and distribute literature. Find the Charlestown Lions on Facebook.
A variety of other organizations use the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center for fundraisers including the Charlestown Youth Pirates and Youth Lady Pirates (CYP/CYLP), Charlestown Little Pirate Football, and Charlestown Marching Band of Pirates.
