Welcome to the CITY OF CHARLESTOWN.COM

Welcome to Charlestown’s website. We hope that it reflects the Spirit of this wonderful community. Founded in 1808. Charlestown is celebrating its Bi-Centennial Birthday this year by showcasing its rich history, community spirit, and plans for our future. Commencing as a trading post, today Charlestown has developed into a city that has become one of the best communities to live and raise a family in Southeast Indiana.

With many community events from festivals, block watches, neighborhood socials, school events, church and civic programs you sense the close knitted neighborly feel. We trust that you can see why our citizens are happy to:

“Come Home To Charlestown”.

Mayor Bob Hall

Rowing with "The Flowe" - Part 2

Passers-by in Charlestown have probably noticed something is happening on the second floor of the City Hall building.  The 4,000+ square foot space has been corrected of irregular walls, partitions, and uneven floors.  New electrical wiring, walls and hardwood floors will soon prevail, as the area will be utilized as new offices for city officials.  This will free-up much needed space on the first floor for public access and assembly rooms needed for the operations of the City.
